1Our commitment

Ancient Modern Finishes wants everyone to be able to use ancientmodernfinishes.com, including people with disabilities. We build this website with accessibility in mind, and we keep checking and fixing it as pages change.

2The standard we follow

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content easier to use for people with a wide range of disabilities.

We believe this website partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conforms means some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. Those parts are listed under Known limitations below, and we welcome your feedback on anything we have missed.

3What we have done

• Pages use real headings and landmarks, and every page opens with a Skip to content link, so screen reader and keyboard users can move around quickly.
• Meaningful images have text alternatives.
• Text colours are checked for contrast. A few small labels still fall short and are listed under Known limitations.
• Links, buttons, menus, galleries and forms can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
• Form fields have labels, and errors are explained in text.
• Animations, scrolling reels and background video stop when your device is set to reduce motion.
• We test key pages with automated tools and with a keyboard.

4Accessibility preferences on this site

This site includes an optional accessibility menu, opened with the Accessibility options tab on the left edge of the screen. It lets you enlarge text, add spacing, switch to a more readable font, change contrast or colour saturation, highlight links and headings, use a reading guide, stop animations, enlarge the cursor, strengthen focus outlines, have text read aloud, and jump to any section of the page.

Your choices are saved only in your browser on this device. We do not collect them. The menu is a convenience: it is not how this site meets accessibility standards, and it does not replace the screen reader, magnifier or other assistive technology you already use.

5Tools you may already have

• Zoom in or out with Ctrl and + / - (Cmd on a Mac).
• Reader view in Safari, Firefox and Edge shows a page as plain, resizable text.
• Your device's settings can enlarge text, increase contrast, reduce motion, or turn on a screen reader such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA or JAWS.

The W3C's Better Web Browsing guide explains these settings for every major browser.

6Known limitations

• Some small step numbers on the home, contact and epoxy floor pages, and the small "Replacing" and "Refinishing" labels on the cabinet refinishing page, are lighter than the contrast standard asks for.
• The background video at the top of the home page and the plaster clip on the decorative finishes page have no pause button. Neither plays when your device is set to reduce motion, and the Stop animations option in the accessibility menu pauses both.
• On a phone, the top of the contact page is wider than the screen, so some of its text runs off the right edge until you scroll sideways.
• The Services menu in the main navigation opens on keyboard focus and closes when focus moves on, but the Escape key does not close it yet.

Some content on this site comes from other companies: the Google project map, the YouTube videos, the chat assistant, and the Calendly booking page. We cannot fully control their content. If any of it does not work for you, contact us and we will help another way.

7Compatibility

This site is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, and with common screen readers including VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS.
