Two doors, two different jobs

They sit on the same elevation and they fail for different reasons. Most houses need both done, and doing one without the other is what makes the mismatch obvious.

Front and entry doors

Painted, or stripped back and restained with a marine-grade clear coat.

Why it fails: A south or west-facing door takes hours of direct sun a day with no shade and no airflow behind it. The clear coat breaks down first, then the wood greys and the grain opens.

Why it fails: Steel garage doors chalk and fade unevenly, and the panels facing the driveway bake hardest. People repaint the house, skip the garage door, and the mismatch is the first thing anyone sees.

Stripping a door back to bare wood

A garage door masked to the brick, sprayed in passes, and left to flash off between coats. Sun does this to a south-facing door in a few Florida summers, and this is how it comes back.

  1. 01Masked to the brick first, because overspray on stone is a second job.
  2. 02Sprayed in passes rather than rolled, so the panels come back flat.
  3. 03Left to flash off between coats, which is most of the day on site.

Doors are quoted individually. A repaint and a full strip-and-restain are different jobs, and the estimate breaks out each door so you can decide what to include.
